surgical, emergency, diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitative
and other specialized inpatient and outpatient care
services. Has 24-hour emergency services. The hospital
offers various community programs, workshops and services.
Community Services – Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Course, Audiological-Otological Clinic, Basic Life Support
Class, Sibling Class and Support Groups. Dietitian –
designs programs for individuals with diabetes and others
concerned about weight control, good health and prevention
of heart disease. Physical Therapy Programs –
Amputee Training, Home Program Planning, Non-Invasive Pain
Control, Pre- and Post-Operative Thoracotomy Rehabilitation,
Post-Mastectomy Rehabilitation, Relaxation Training Stress
Control, and TMJ Evaluation and Treatment. Speakers Bureau
– programs and speakers available for organizations and
clubs. Support Groups – Hope Group (cancer), Heart
Group, Nu-Voice (laryngectomees), Lupus, Diabetes and,
Fibromyalgia. Wellness Programs – Freedom From
Smoking, and “Project Trim” Weight Loss Program.

Information: Behavioral medicine program treating
stress, depression, chemical dependency, anxiety,
co-dependency, marriage and family issues.
Services offered: Outpatient primary care.
Individual therapy for adolescents (12-17) and adults (18
and over); couples counseling; marriage and family
counseling. Program staff includes nurses, counselors,
social workers, family therapists.
Persons served: Ages 12 and up.
Fees: Accept third party insurance, Medicare and
private pay.

Information: M.E.R.S. offers a wide variety of
evaluation, training and placement services at six
facilities in the St. Louis Area: Downtown, Brentwood, North
County, South County, St. Charles, and Franklin County.
Services offered: Vocational evaluation; work
adjustment; vocational counseling, skills training in office
skills, entry-level accounting, building maintenance,
adult/child day-care aide, culinary arts; specialized
programs for chemical dependency, head trauma, deafness,
learning disabilities, MR/DD, and mental illness; transition
from school to work; GED classes; sheltered workshop; and
job placement.
Persons served: individuals with disabilities,
individuals receiving temporary assistance, veterans,
residents in Illinois and Missouri within the Metro East
area.

Information: The Metro-East AIDS Task Force is an
organization of individuals with an interest in assisting
those who are infected with HIV. The group meets bi-monthly
to identify the needs of those with HIV, established
objectives to meet those needs and collaborates closely with
the St. Clair/Madison County HIV Consortium, which provides
services to individuals with HIV/AIDS. It also provides a
forum for networking and education for those who provide
services to those with HIV, and those who are infected or
affected by HIV.
Persons served: Residents of Bond, Clinton, Jersey,
Madison, Randolph, St. Clair and Washington counties.
