Adventures in Motivation (A.I.M.)

Services offered: Leadership Institute Program for high school students 9th – 12th grade who have demonstrated leadership potential and scholar merit.  Leadership Lecture Series Program community leaders speaking to high school and college students.  Leadership Recreational Program stresses sportsmanship and physical development for 5-14 years old.  Summer Leadership Program is an educational and recreational program for K-9th grades.  Youth Forum Programs on various subjects.  PAVE Program (Parents Are Vital in Education) is composed of neighborhood parents whose children attend one of the after school SAFE HAVEN CENTERS.  A Rite of Passage program specifically focused on leadership development and adulthood training for African American fifth grade students.  A Sister to Sister-Brother to Brother mentoring program where mentors create a positive, willing and enabling environment for 3rd grade students.  A Family Centered Service program that provides intervention services to children (and their parents) who suffer with behavioral problems.

Services offered: BEACON of Belleville is an organization of local churches operating as a social outreach clearinghouse.  Link people in need with church volunteers for person to person help.  The process includes verification of need, analysis of the kind and extent of need, referral to appropriate resources and follow-up.  The purpose is not to duplicate or complete with existing services, but to support and enhance the community service network.

Services offered: Adult volunteers, ages 18 and older, are matched with Little Brothers or Little Sisters.  A child who is matched receives time spent with the Big Brother or Big Sister as well as professional staff.  Big Sister mentor services offered to pregnant teens.  Corporate mentors are matched with elementary students at schools.  Group activities offered to children who are unmatched.  Referrals to other community agencies are made when appropriate.
