Services offered: BEACON of Belleville is an organization of local churches operating as a social outreach clearinghouse.  Link people in need with church volunteers for person to person help.  The process includes verification of need, analysis of the kind and extent of need, referral to appropriate resources and follow-up.  The purpose is not to duplicate or complete with existing services, but to support and enhance the community service network.

Services offered: Independent retirement community offers full size apartments for rent.  Rent includes three meals per day, housekeeping, activities, transportation, etc.  Community involvement is important to us.  We do offer our facility for support group meetings for different organizations.  Monthly – open to the public events – provides entertainment or educational services for seniors.

Services offered: Job training and employment assistance for individuals who qualify under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) as economically disadvantaged, dislocated workers, people with employment barriers, veterans, or older individuals, as well as services for employers.  Additional services provided through Welfare to Work programs (WTW).  WIA and WTW services provided through Illinois Employment and Training Centers (IETC) in Belleville (277.5678) and East St. Louis (271.7750) and through satellite centers in Carlyle (594.4520), Chester (826.4709), Nashville (327.4191), and Waterloo (939.3332).  Community Services Block Grant and Community Action Agency programs include residential energy assistance, emergency medical and food assistance, homeless services and referrals.  Community development provides a rental rehab loan program and weatherization of residential property plus other community and economic development programs.

Services offered: Church services on Sundays.  Rental, utility and water assistance; bus passes.  Day camp in the summer.  Latchkey before and after school care.  Open basketball on Friday 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. ($2.00).  The Salvation Army also runs a 27-bed shelter that is open 24 hours/day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
