Services offered:  Adult Residential Services: short-term therapeutic setting for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.  Individuals are referred by local mental health, local and state hospitals, psychiatrists and private agencies that address mental health issues.  Medication monitoring, counseling and medical assistance are interventions provided to help stabilize consumer behavior.  Referrals are made to community agencies for financial assistance, housing for those who find themselves homeless and employment to empower individuals as they transition to community living.  The thrust of the program is to prevent hospitalization through early intervention.   Transitional Living Shelter: Began in 1998 and was developed to provide and assist homeless young women between 16 and 21 years of age in their pursuit to become independent and self-sufficient citizens within the community.  These young women can maintain residence for up to 18 months while pursuing an education or job training skills.  While residents of the shelter, these women will be afforded life skills training through classes provided by staff and community volunteers.   Information and Referral: Links people in need with local agencies, churches, and organizations that can help them.  We maintain an extensive, up-to-date file of agencies and programs that provide assistance with housing, medical services, financial aid, transportation, food and critical services.  A Central Aid Registry for the churches and agencies in the community who are part of a networking system is maintained.  An emergency food pantry to meet immediate needs is provided when other pantries are closed, and one-time assistance for those needing emergency medications is offered.  When funds are available, we work through the Federal Emergency Management Agency to provide one month’s rent to those who face eviction from their homes.  Sexual Assault Victim’s Care Service: Provides services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to all victims of sexual assault.  These services include telephone crisis intervention, counseling, groups and advocacy.  Our trained advocates provide crisis intervention at area hospitals, police departments and court hearings.  Our services extend not only to the victim, but also to his/her family.  We provide group counseling and short or long-term therapy to adults and children to reduce the trauma of rape, incest or other offenses such as sexual harassment, voyeurism or exhibitionism.  Community education and professional training programs are available for interested groups upon request.  Suicide and Crisis Intervention: A 24-hour a day, 7 days a week, telephone crisis service staffed by professional crisis workers and volunteers who have completed a 40-hour training program which includes sessions on suicide, crisis intervention, mental disorders, sexual assault, teen issues, AIDS, and community referrals.  A telephone device for the deaf is also available by calling 618.397.0992  Suicide & Crisis Counseling is provided in the Call For Help Office by appointment.  The counseling is short-term and focuses on issues that have placed a person in crisis and/or precipitated the suicidal thoughts.  Counselors will also help schools, agencies and organizations with Suicide Assessment when help is requested and the time is available.  Parent/Youth Help Line: Staff listens and responds to family problems, help relieve everyday or situational stress and make referrals to appropriate community services to meet the needs. Survivors of Suicide Support Group: Group meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7p.m., located at the Call For Help, Inc. office, 9400 Lebanon Road, Edgemont, IL.  Individual counseling is also available.  These services are to help survivors through the grief process of a death due to suicide 618.397.0963.
