Shelter: Began in 1998 and was developed to provide and
assist homeless young women between 16 and 21 years of age
in their pursuit to become independent and self-sufficient
citizens within the community. These young women can
maintain residence for up to 18 months while pursuing an
education or job training skills. While residents of the
shelter, these women will be afforded life skills training
through classes provided by staff and community volunteers.
Information and Referral: Links people in need with
local agencies, churches, and organizations that can help
them. We maintain an extensive, up-to-date file of agencies
and programs that provide assistance with housing, medical
services, financial aid, transportation, food and critical
services. A Central Aid Registry for the churches and
agencies in the community who are part of a networking
system is maintained. An emergency food pantry to meet
immediate needs is provided when other pantries are closed,
and one-time assistance for those needing emergency
medications is offered. When funds are available, we work
through the Federal Emergency Management Agency to provide
one month’s rent to those who face eviction from their
homes. Sexual Assault Victim’s Care Service: Provides
services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to all victims of
sexual assault. These services include telephone crisis
intervention, counseling, groups and advocacy. Our trained
advocates provide crisis intervention at area hospitals,
police departments and court hearings. Our services extend
not only to the victim, but also to his/her family. We
