Suicide and Crisis Intervention: A
24-hour a day, 7 days a week, telephone crisis service
staffed by professional crisis workers and volunteers who
have completed a 40-hour training program which includes
sessions on suicide, crisis intervention, mental disorders,
sexual assault, teen issues, AIDS, and community referrals.
A telephone device for the deaf is also available by calling
618.397.0992 Suicide & Crisis Counseling is provided in the
Call For Help Office by appointment. The counseling is
short-term and focuses on issues that have placed a person
in crisis and/or precipitated the suicidal thoughts.
Counselors will also help schools, agencies and
organizations with Suicide Assessment when help is requested
and the time is available.

Information: The Metro-East AIDS Task Force is an
organization of individuals with an interest in assisting
those who are infected with HIV. The group meets bi-monthly
to identify the needs of those with HIV, established
objectives to meet those needs and collaborates closely with
the St. Clair/Madison County HIV Consortium, which provides
services to individuals with HIV/AIDS. It also provides a
forum for networking and education for those who provide
services to those with HIV, and those who are infected or
affected by HIV.
